Baden

2500 Baden, Halsriegelstraße 4

At the Jewish cemetery in Baden, which covers an area of 12,849 m², making it the largest Jewish cemetery in Lower Austria, approximately 2,200 people have been buried from 1873 to the present day. These include mostly members of the Jewish community of Baden, as well as guests from all parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire who passed away during a spa stay in Baden. Around 1,400 gravestones have been preserved. In terms of occupancy, it is the largest Jewish cemetery in Austria outside of Vienna and is under monument protection.

From 2017 to 2021, the cemetery was restored with the help of funding from the Fund for the Restoration of Jewish Cemeteries in Austria and the State of Lower Austria.

On June 21, 2022, the cemetery was officially handed over to the municipality of Baden for further maintenance.
